Division of Vehicles pilots mobile license office for teen drivers

OLATHE - Summer typically means longer lines at the driver’s license office. In an effort to reduce wait times, the Kansas Department of Revenue (KDOR) is piloting the use of its mobile driver’s license kiosks in partnership with the Blue Valley School District for teen drivers.
“Our hope is to be able to address the lines we typically see while providing a convenience for our new drivers,” Director of Vehicles David Harper said.
The mobile office will be in the commons area at Liberty View Elementary School, 14800 S. Greenwood Street, in Olathe. Appointments are required and offered from 8am-3:30pm every Tuesday and Wednesday in June. This service is for students ages 14-18 to handle permit and licensing needs.

Students and parents need the following information with them to obtain a permit or license, otherwise, people will be turned away for not presenting acceptable documentation:
- Government-issued birth certificate OR a valid, unexpired passport
- Social Security card OR a tax form with name and social security number shown
- Any current State issued permit or license
- Driver’s education permit form or a completion certificate (DE-99) if applicable
- Parent’s driver's license
- One additional proof of Kansas residency (utility bill, motor vehicle registration, etc.)
Social Security cards will be the only documentation allowed to be laminated. Only cash or checks will be accepted.
