Congratulations on starting your new Kansas business.
To register for and pay your business taxes, you will need to set up an account with the Kansas Department of Revenue Customer Service Center. You can do so by clicking the "Customer Service Center" link at the top of the website and following the directions.
Once you have registered for and logged into the customer service center, please fill out our questionnaire that will tell you what business taxes you need to register for. You may also need to register with the Kansas Secretary of State for corporations to do business in Kansas or with the Kansas Department of Labor for unemployment taxes. Visit the Kansas Business Center for more information about establishing and maintaining a business in Kansas.
Be aware that if your business activity involves liquor or cigarette and tobacco products you would also need to be licensed. Visit the Alcoholic Beverage Control page for more information on requirements for obtaining the appropriate licenses. Visit the Cigarette/Tobacco Products page for more information on requirements for obtaining the appropriate cigarette or tobacco products licenses.
You need to notify the Kansas Department of Revenue immediately if your business is closed or sold. Also, if you have any filing period in which there is no business activity to report you still need to file a return for that period.
