Select the standard deduction if you did NOT itemize deductions on your Federal return. If you itemized your deductions on your Federal return, you may either itemize or take the standard deduction, whichever is to your advantage.
If you or your spouse are legally blind, select the blindness exemption for the appropriate person(s).
If you or your spouse are over the age of 65 years, select the over 65 exemption for the appropriate person(s).
If you received income from a lump sum distribution and there has been a Federal tax
imposed on this income in accordance with Federal Internal Revenue Code Section 402(e),
then you are subject to Kansas tax on your lump sum distribution. Enter 13% of the
Federal tax on your lump sum distribution (determined on
Federal Form 4972).

If you are claimed on another Kansas Individual Income tax return as a dependent, you will need to enter the amount of income you earned in Kansas for the current tax year in order to receive the proper deduction amount.
