Purpose, contributors, and non-endorsement information

Purpose of This Series

This 15-part educational series was created to help Kansas residents, homeowners, farmers, and business owners understand how the Kansas property tax system works. The series uses plain language to explain property valuation, assessment rates, exemptions, and appeal rights — topics that affect nearly every Kansan.

The Kansas Department of Revenue’s Property Valuation Division is responsible for the official guidance and statutory information presented throughout this series. All content reflects Kansas law and agency practice as of the publication date.

How to Use This Series

The series is organized into 15 slides that can be read in order or navigated individually. Each slide covers one core concept. Navigation buttons at the bottom of each slide allow you to move forward, backward, or return to the home page. Keyboard navigation is also supported: the right arrow key advances to the next slide, the left arrow key goes back, and the Home key returns to the index.

Return to the slide index to begin or continue the presentation.
